Love joy peace and hope
We’ve tied them in chains
And ran far from them

But how can we cope
When that in our brains
Tells us to protect

Protect our pride
Our dignity
Protect our wants
Our desires

But we can’t do this
We need to embrace.
Embrace our full and
Broken hidden selves

For it is only in our pain
Our poverty and addiction
